Need a place to let your dog run off some excess energy? Dogs of all shapes and sizes enjoy romping through the 10 acre fenced play area of the Raccoon River Park Dog Park. The facility is open each day from 6:30 a.m. until dusk and features areas for both large and small dogs. The park, located just to the east of the softball complex, is also a great place to meet other dog lovers and enjoy each others pets.

Users are asked to purchase a Dog Park permit to utilize the facility. Permits are available at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office (4200 Mills Civic Parkway) or the Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge. (Proof of parvo/distemper and rabies vacinations is required to purchase permits) Permits are good for one calendar year (January through December) and range in price from $15 for West Des Moines residents to $30 for non-residents. West Des Moines residents must also have a current city pet licence to use the park.
