Sections of 50th St, 60th St and Jordan Creek Pkwy to close for railroad crossing work
If the weather cooperates, crews will work on three consecutive days to resurface the approaches to railroad track crossings on 50th Street, 60th Street and Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines. Crews are expected to work on each crossing for just one night.
A section of 50th Street will be closed to all traffic at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, October 16. Crews will resurface the approaches to the railroad track crossing north of EP True Parkway. The work will be completed at night under a full road closure. The road will reopen by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17.
On the following day, Tuesday, October 17, a section of 60th Street north of EP True Parkway will be closed to all traffic at approximately 8 p.m. The road will reopen by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18.
On the third day, Wednesday, October 18, a section of Jordan Creek Parkway north of Ashworth Road will be closed at 9 p.m. to all traffic. Jordan Creek Parkway will reopen on Thursday, October 19, by 6 a.m.
Residents in the area can expect to hear noise with the milling operation which will take a couple of hours. Trucks unloading asphalt material and the asphalt paving machine also will generate some noise. The asphalt will then cool and the road will reopen by 6 a.m. for morning commuters. Electronic message boards on 50th Street, 60th Street and Jordan Creek Parkway will display the date of the work for area motorists.
